United Promotions ROES Instructions
 

PREPARATION:

 

In order to use ROES you must have Java installed on your computer. You can find the latest version of Java here: www.java.com

Mac Users :

  • You MUST have OS 10.8.5 or higher AND the latest version Java.
PC Users :
  • Java must be installed into your users folder under your account!
    Go to "C:\user" find YOUR account in the users folder.
  • You may see more than one account. IE Public or Guest along with your name. Generally you would install Java to the account with your name.
  • Open the folder with your name and create a new folder and call it Java.
  • Start the Java free download. VERY early you will see an option in the progress window that says CHANGE DESTINATION. When you see this you MUST check it!
  • After the files have downloaded you will get an window which says "change". Click change and navigate to the Java folder you created in Users under your account.
  • Once it tells you “You have successfully installed Java” you can close out and go to the UPI website. www.upilab.com
  • Under the Software heading, choose ROES, and launch the version of ROES you need. After this initial launch you should be able to launch ROES from the icon on your desktop.

PRODUCT SELECTION:

  • Click on “START ORDERING” located at the top right of the screen.
  • Select a catalog by clicking the Catalogs button (you can ONLY add products from one catalog to an order).
  • Select a product from the catalog by clicking on a Product Icon in the catalog window. ( Volume Units is the default )
  • The product is displayed in the CENTER window.
  • Click and drag an image to the CENTER window.
  • Click on the product to open the drop down image control panel. You can use the slider to zoom in and out ( or the scroll wheel on your mouse). You also have crop to fit options and rotate image options. You may also “skew” the image to straighten vertical or horizontal lines.
  • Adjust the image position for crop by clicking and dragging the image.
  • If there is a text field, double click and highlight it to edit the text. If the text area is too small, place the cursor on the edge of the field (changes to a hand) and zoom in by double clicking that area. Double click outside of the text area to return to normal zoom. The text will appear similar on the actual product, check examples for the final text size.
  • IF YOU SEE TYPE YOUR TEXT HERE, OR FIRST NAME LAST NAME in a text box. YOU MUST clear this text or you WILL get prints saying exactly what is in the text box.
  • In the options window you can select a text color, fonts, background choices and the images can be Sepia or B&W for certain products as well.
  • The second row of buttons under the product allow you to Hold Crop, Hold Options, Hold Quantity, Hold Images, Lock Image, Crop or Fit, Auto Rotate or Show a Reticule over nodes.

BUILDING PACKAGES:

  • If the Packager option has been enabled, then you will see a slider bar and two buttons just under the center window. If you do not see these, click on the icon just to the left of the Quantity option. ( it looks like a stack of papers) This turns the Packager on and off.
  • To design a new set of packages, click the “Favorites” button at the bottom of the sizes palette on the left side ( it has a black heart next to it). This will take you to the Favorites screen. ( this button does nothing more than toggle you back and forth between favorites and the products page)
  • At the top of the Favorites you will see a “tab” like a folder tab that says “Favorites” Next to Favorites is a small black + sign. ( NOT the green + at the bottom)
  • Click the small black plus sign to create a new package set. Type the name of the new package set into the window on your new tab. (Package sets would'd be like “underclass” or School Packages or possibly just “My Packages”)
  • Next press the enter key. Now you should have a new package set.
  • Next click the Favorites button to go back to the sizes pallet (products page)
  • Find the first item in your first package and click on it. It will open in the center window.
  • Next, find each subsequent item for your package (one at a time) and DRAG that item into the center window.
    (If your package has 1 8x10 2 5x7’s and 8 wallets, you should see THREE sheets in the center window)
  • Once you have ALL the items you need in a package in the center window, click the Favorites button again to go back to your package set.
  • Click on the tab or group you made.
  • Click on the GREEN plus sign on top of the BLACK heart
  • You should see text appear that says, “Name this Favorite”.
  • Type in the package name..A..B..1..2 ( or whatever you wish to name it ) and press the enter key. You should now have a package on the new tab you created.
  • Repeat this process for ALL packages.
  • Single item packages should be named with the product name.
    Ex.
    1-2 sided dog tag
    Package name should be: 2 s dog tag (or something similar)
  • BEFORE USING OR BUILDING A JOB WITH YOUR NEW PACKAGES. CLOSE ROES PROPERLY. Then re-open ROES and start ordering.

PLACE ORDER:

  • After selecting a Catalog, click on a Product or a Package then drag an image to the product in the Center window.
  • Change the quantity, if necessary.
  • Adjust the Crop position and Zoom setting. Use the blue + on each product to move the products in the center window if they are on top of or covering each other.
  • Edit the Text. Then choose a Color and Font. (If available. Not all products have user editable features)
  • Select any other available options such as Background Images, Borders, Mounts, Frames and Image Colors (color, b&w or sepia).
  • Click Add to Order.

REVIEW/EDIT ORDER:

  • Click Cart any time to view a summary of the current order in process.
  • Quantities can be adjusted.
  • To edit an item, Go to Cart, click on the pencil icon on the right side of the page for the item you wish to edit. This will take you back to the ordering page. Make your changes and click SAVE.
  • To delete an item, click on the X under the pencil icon.
  • REMEMBER ROES ORDERS ARE COLOR AND DENSITY ADJUSTED ONLY EVERYTHING ELSE SUCH AS CROPPING ETC IS PRINTED THE WAY YOU SEND THEM IN TO UPI.
  • UPI CANNOT ADD TO ROES ORDERS! IF YOU CANNOT FIND AN ITEM CALL OR EMAIL UPI AND WE WILL HELP YOU.

SEND ORDER:

  • Click cart to Review Order.
  • Enter a Job ID. (A Daycare name, Dance School etc.)
  • Enter a part number ( as in XYZ Dance Part 1 of 2 )
  • Attach file as needed or none.
  • Choose the date you need the job. Click the box to activate the calendar. Click on the date you need the job in your hands on the calendar.
  • Choose packaging. ( Window Envelopes, Bulk Pack , Etc )
  • Choose your payment info. ( Whatever terms you have with our accounting dept)
  • Agree with copyright notice.
  • Finalize Order. Check I reviewed my order. Type yes in the window below.
  • Use Alternate Address if needed.
  • Enter Instructions as needed.
  • Click complete and send order.
